Purple With A Purpose

The other day I went to Dunkin' Donuts and saw a little poster at the cashier with a headline "Purple With A Purpose". September 21, which is today, is World Alzheimer's Day. Color for it? Purple. I was immediately ready to take off that sheer nail polish from my finger tips.

I didn't want to wear Lincoln Park After Dark because I've worn it recently and I wanted it to be a more obvious purple. I didn't want to wear Done Out In Deco & Parlez Vou OPI because I'm saving them for this weekend. Then I only had one option left.

 Loreal - Base Coat
Rimmel London Lasting Finish PRO - 350 Violet Metal (2 coats)
Revlon - Quick Dry Top Coat

Out of all the purples, this one is most vibrant and out there purple although it does have blue shimmers going on. It is a pretty color but not my favorite on myself. It makes my hands look red under certain lighting. Most of all, I don't have any outfit that looks good with it. I think yellow top would look super cute with this color... except I realized I don't have any last night.

Funny thing about nail polishes is that I can remember when, where, and why I got them. My sister and I were learning Chinese from this lady we knew. On the way back from our first lesson, I wanted to check out their CVS. It was about an hour away from our town and I was curious if there would be anything I haven't seen before. It was my first day seeing Rimmerl - Lasting Finshinsh PRO line and I was absolutely sold by their packaging.

The brush on this thing is wide as if not wider than O.P.I.'s. Their color selections are great too. Since this day, this remains as one of my favorite drugstore nail polish line.

OPI - I Pink I Love You

I've been into dark colors for the longest time until recently, I've been getting into sheers. But the maximum length I can keep it on would be two days, for I get bored of it quickly.

O.P.I - I Pink I Love You came out with the Fairytale Bride Collection (2009) and it is a sheer pink that is certainly build-able in jelly-like finish. It has a blue iridescent to it, which makes it look purple-ish sometimes in the bottle.

Loreal - Base Coat
O.P.I. - I Pink I Love You (2 coats)
Revlon - Quick Dry Top Coat

My nail polish collection is very small when compared to the great population of nail polish bloggers out there. This one is the sixth pink I've worn and I like it the best so far. I think the blue undertone works well with my skin tone and doesn't make my hands look tanner than it really is which other pinks tend to do.

On the final note, this polish was certainly wearable and will be one of my "go to polishes" when I want my nails to stay quiet for a day or two.

Mannequin Pedi

Can't believe I'm posting my feet the first thing I open this blog. But I've done a horrible job painting my finger nails last night 'cause I was rushing it and it aches my heart to leave this blog so empty. So here we go!

I love coloring my toe nails but they are such a pain in the butt compared to finger nails. Cooler days are on their way and once I have to start wearing them socks again, what's the point of having such vibrant colors on the tips of my toes? So I decided to give a neutral color a try:

Nicole by O.P.I. - Fall For Her (NI 183) indoors

To be honest... I LOVE IT! I can see other people getting weirded out by the look though. But it makes my feet look so... CLEAN. Not that it is not (ahahaha), but it looks it as well. Plus, I don't have to worry about about my mani & pedi clashing when I change my mani. Sweet!

This color was given by my auntie. Thank goodness she gave me two bottles of it, because it is the perfect mannequin color for my feet and I'm sure I'll be using it very often in autumn/winter 2010.

Have you tried mannequin pedi? If so, share your experience and the shade you would recommend. If not, definitely give it a try!
